George Hotel

19 High St, Amesbury, Salisbury SP4 7ET, UK – 01980 622108

Paid £59 for twin room for me and my sister on a Friday night as she was doing a sky dive in Salisbury on Sat am, this hotel is great, the buildings been there since the 13th century, so has lovely oak beams and strange corridors leading to the bedrooms, our room no.29 was at the end of the building and had a sloping floor...but this just added to its charm. Great tea/coffee/hot choc facilities including 3 selections of biscuits and shampoo/shower gels/soap and even body lotion is provided. The breakfast is also great, lovely choice and excellent bacon!. All the staff are friendly....from checking in, to the bar staff, and the older lady at breakfast was super friendly. We had a meal at restaurant on the night which was also really nice. This place has a great laidback feel to it which me and my sister really enjoyed. I would've liked to have seen a booklet explaining all about the buildings history. The only downside was there was a disco/karaoke there....which I think they have every weekend, and it was extremely loud, going on from 10pm till 1.30am, even earplugs didn't cut out the sound, having to be up at 6.45am this wasn't the best situation for us and would stop me going there again even though I loved the place so much.....but I would def stay again on a weekday where I could enjoy a good night's sleep

Basic, dated and bloody lovely. The people who work there are welcoming and the rooms are just what they say on the packet. There are flaws but when you're staying in an old building you accept that.

The Antrobus Arms Hotel

15 Church St, Amesbury, Salisbury SP4 7EU, UK – 01980 623163

Located in Amesbury town, this wonderful old building has an atmosphere all of its own. The room we stayed in was spacious and tastefully decorated. In-room facilities were as would be expected with a large and clean en-suite. The bar was friendly and warm and the staff and service welcoming and attentive. The Thai restaurant in the hotel looks inviting and has a good reputation. Being in the town centre, the hotel suffers a little from weekend street noise at night, which marred an otherwise lovely stay.

We had a fantastic meal at the Thai restaurant within the Antrobus hotel. The food was yummy and the service was friendly. We would most certainly recommend and will be visiting again.

Holiday Inn Salisbury - Stonehenge

Solstice Park, Mid Summer Pl, Amesbury, Wiltshire SP4 7SQ, UK – 0345 241 3535

Very comfortable, fine and respectful staff. Very attentive to our needs. The breakfast is £10 per day (as long as you buy the day before) but it does include a single free child's meal for 12 and under with every paying adult. So, for our my partner and I's two children it was a great deal! Breakfast is buffet style and includes a strong selection in a spacious and comfortable dining area. Honestly, there were no issues. I would be more than happy to stay here again in the future.

A very nice hotel, well built where the floor boards don't creak! I turned up at reception and the wonderful lady upgraded me free to an executive Room. The room is well decorated and situated at the end of the hotel. There's huge windows and great view. A great sofa to relax on in front of the TV. The room is large, and very quiet. The bath is amazing, I'm a big guy and I easily fitted in and the water wasn't even up to the top! The room has air-conditioning and a mini fridge. Room service is available at a reasonable price. I didn't actually use the restaurant as I used local facilities, however the breakfast was superb. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Just ok...food service not the best. Menu often limited due to staff shortages.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Nick and ang are the perfect hosts, rooms are very comfortable and nick does an amazing breakfast,

We spent a very pleasant night in one of the small double rooms. It was quite compact but beautifully decorated, quiet with a comfy bed plus free WiFi. The breakfast was also very good. The staff were very helpfull, competent and professional. Not naturally chatty and warm but that didn't bother us.

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!
